What does the convergence of media mean? It means that as technology advances, different communications media begin to amalgamate into one. New Media is a term used to describe the combination of any number of media types, such as video, motion graphics, audio, animation, illustration, photography or traditional design. Leading new media are video and motion graphics, the most time-efficient, effective and impactful of all media formats. In the past, the delivery of various media such as audio and video was limited to radio or television. This has changed drastically in the past ten years. As bandwidths grow and compression methods improve, the Internet will evolve even further. Television, radio and the Internet will inevitability amalgamate, and video will be the standard method for modern communication. Convergence of media is the inevitable dawn of the digital video era. |
